What does the price include?

All of our prices include Bed & Full Scottish Breakfast plus VAT at the current rate.

How do I make a reservation?

You can book your room online using the booking panel or page. You will need to secure your room with a valid debit or credit card and your reservation will be confirmed instantly by email.

What is your payment policy?

A non-refundable deposit for the first night of your stay will be taken from your card at the time of confirmation of your booking. if you wish to pay using a credit card there is a £2.50 processing fee.

What is your cancellation policy?

Following confirmation of your reservation, your deposit becomes non-refundable should you cancel any part, or all of your reservation.

If your cancellation is made within 7 days of the arrival date, then the whole cost of the reservation may be chargeable, unless we are able to re-let the rooms.

In the event of ‘No Show’, the entire cost of the reservation will be charged in full.

Do you accept pets?

Unfortunately, we are unable to accept pets at Castle View Guest House.

Do you offer free WiFi?

Wireless Internet is available in the entire house and is free of charge. Please connect to one of the following networks;

What time is breakfast served?

Breakfast is first served at 8:00am – 9:30am, and the dining room is located on the ground floor.

Should you need to leave early we can leave out a continental breakfast for you with preserves , cheeses, croissants, cereals, yoghurts and fruit juices. Please ask a member of staff the night before this service is required.

When are the bedrooms serviced?

Our housekeeping team clean our bedrooms everyday between 11am and 2pm.

If you prefer not to be disturbed in the room and you are staying extra nights, please leave the “Do not disturb” notice on your bedroom door handle outside.

When can I checkout until?

Check-out is available for our guests from the dining area on the ground floor from 7am until 10:30am.

Late checkout is subject to availability upon departure.

Please, always inform us in advance if you mean to leave the guest house early in the morning.

Please inform us in advance if you require a VAT invoice.

Luggage can be left with us and collected later in the day.

What methods can I use to pay?

Payment may be made by cash, debit or credit card.  A credit card payment incurs a £2.50 processing fee.

What is your smoking policy?

We run a no smoking policy throughout the guest house as do every public place in Scotland.

What local amenities are there?

The nearest Post Office is located on Fredrick Street, which is short walk from the guest house.

The nearest news agent is on Castle Street just around the corner from the guest house.

Public telephones are on Castle Street, a short walk from the guest house.

The nearest bank and ATM machine is on the corner of George Street and Castle Street.

OUR QUEENS GUEST HOUSE IS TEMPORARILY CLOSED!Due to the pandemic emergency that is affecting the tourist industry, we have sadly decided to make the Queens Guest House inoperative until further notice.

After the announcement by the British Prime Minister Boris Johnson and subsequent conference from the First Minister of Scotland, Nicola Sturgeon, we are writing to you letting you know the immediate impact of these announcements.

As you are aware the last six months since the Covid-19 pandemic struck the hospitality and tourism sector has been disproportionately affected. We were hoping that by now we would be seeing restrictions easing and the recovery of the tourism sector. However, this has not been the case; visitor numbers to the city have collapsed. And with further tightening of restrictions, possibly running on for another six months, well into next year, there is no end in sight.

Therefore we have made the difficult but only viable decision, to shut down for the Autumn and Winter period. With the number of infections rising exponentially and little or no sign of recovery in terms of tourist and guest numbers, then there is no way we can remain open and financially viable.

If you have a booking with us, or a voucher to redeem then please contact us in the spring, we are hoping that we can reopen again, on April 1st 2021.

We can imagine that this may be a difficult time for our guests, and this news will not be easy to digest, but currently, there is no viable business or means to remain open. We are hoping things will have significantly improved by April 2021. It also means we and our potential guests have clarity for the winter season and into next year.
